Who is responsible for your information
Atlas.Earth is a sole proprietorship registered in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. myatlas.earth is a site it operates.
Atlas.Earth is responsible for personal information collected through myatlas.earth and China eVTOL News. It is a one-person publication — there is no team, and enquiries come to me directly.

What I collect, and why
If you subscribe to the newsletter
- Your email address, so I can send you China eVTOL News
- Delivery and open data provided by the newsletter platform, so I can tell whether emails are arriving
If you become a paying member
- Your name and email address, to create and identify your account
- Payment card details — handled entirely by Stripe. I never see or store your full card number. Stripe passes me a payment confirmation, the last four digits, and a customer reference
- Billing country, because it determines applicable tax
- Your subscription status, so the tools know whether to let you in
When you use the site or the tools
- Login session data, held in a cookie, so you stay signed in between pages
- Standard server logs — IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps — generated automatically by the web host
What I do not collect
I do not ask for your date of birth, address, phone number, employer, or investment positions. I do not build behavioural profiles. I do not track you across other websites, and I do not run third-party analytics or advertising trackers on this site.
What I do with it
I use your information only to:
- Deliver the newsletter and the Atlas tools to you
- Take payment and manage your subscription
- Reply when you contact me
- Notify you about changes to pricing, terms, or the tools
- Understand in aggregate which tools are used, so I know what to build next
I do not sell your personal information. I do not rent, trade, or share it for anyone else’s marketing. I do not use subscriber information to train machine learning models.
Who else handles it
The Atlas is one person, so it runs on third-party services. Each of these processes some subscriber information on my behalf:
| Service | What it handles | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | Payment processing, card details, billing records | United States, global |
| Substack | Newsletter delivery, subscriber email list | United States |
| Bluehost | Web hosting, server logs | United States |
| WordPress and its membership plugins | Accounts, login sessions, access control | On the host above |
Each holds its own privacy policy governing what it does with the information. I choose providers that commit to protecting it, but I do not control their systems.
I may also disclose information if required by law, a court order, or a lawful request from a public authority.
Information leaving Canada
The providers above are based in the United States, so your information is stored and processed outside Canada and is subject to the laws of the countries where those providers operate, including lawful access by courts and authorities there.
This is unavoidable for a small publisher — there is no Canadian-only equivalent of Stripe at this scale. PIPA requires that I tell you it happens and that I remain accountable for your information regardless of where it sits. Both are true.
How long I keep it
- Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe, then removed from the active list
- Paying members: for as long as your subscription is active, and for seven years after it ends, because Canadian tax law requires business records to be retained that long
- Server logs: as retained by the host, typically a few months
- Emails you send me: as long as needed to deal with the matter, and afterwards where there is a record-keeping reason
Your rights
Under PIPA you may:
- Ask what I hold about you and how it has been used or disclosed
- Ask me to correct it if it is wrong
- Withdraw consent to my use of it, subject to legal and contractual limits — withdrawing consent to hold your email means the subscription cannot continue
If you are in the UK or European Economic Area, you also have rights to erasure, restriction, portability, and objection under the GDPR and UK GDPR, and a right to complain to your local supervisory authority.
To exercise any of these, email hello@myatlas.earth. I will respond within 30 days, and free of charge unless a request is repetitive or excessive.
Cookies
The site uses essential cookies only — to keep you logged in and to remember that you are a member. The tools cannot work without these.
There are no advertising cookies and no third-party tracking cookies on this site.
Security
Access to the Atlas tools sits behind a membership check, and the tool files themselves are stored outside the public web root so they cannot be reached by URL alone. Payment card data never touches my systems.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach occurred that created a real risk of significant harm to you, PIPA requires me to notify you and the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia, and I would.
Children
The Atlas is a professional research product and is not directed at children. I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
If I make a material change to this policy, I will email subscribers before it takes effect. The date below always shows the current version.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how I have handled your information, email hello@myatlas.earth first — I would rather fix it directly.
You may also complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (oipc.bc.ca). If you are in the UK or EEA, you may complain to your national data protection authority.
